The SmartView MultiScreen DVI is an advanced KVM switch that enables two or four computers to be controlled by a shared keyboard, mouse and DVI (Digital Visual Interface) display system. Each computer may supply two or four DVI signals and the display system may consist of up to four separate DVI monitors or a single very high resolution DVI display being fed by several DVI signals. By supporting the Digital Video Interface the MultiScreen DVI ensures pixel perfect display accuracy and superb quality crystal clear video pictures. The ability to drive multiple monitors or feed multiple DVI links to very high resolution monitors makes the MultiScreen DVI suitable for a wide range of diverse applications from banking and security to geographic mapping and medical imaging. The SmartView MultiScreen supports standard PC style (PS/2) keyboard and mouse connections. Adder's CCUSB and CCSUN cables may be used to connect the switch to computers with USB or Sun (8 pin round) keyboard and mouse connectors. Sharing many features with the ever popular Gem range, the MultiScreen DVI is loaded with advanced keyboard and mouse support and is flash upgradeable for future compatibility. The MultiScreen DVI may be synchronised with other Adder analogue, DVI and MultiScreen products to support applications that require synchronous switching of large numbers of video channels. MultiScreen DVI models are available with two or four ports and two or four video heads to support most common applications.

Connectors

Most connectors are rear mounted to ensure a neat installation and are colour coded according to the PC99 specification for easy identification. Keyboard and mouse ports use 6 pin mini-DIN female connectors. Video ports use standard 24-way DVI-D connectors. Options port uses 15-way standard D-type connector with proprietary pin allocation. DC power connector provided for video-only and other special applications where interface powering is not possible.

Controls

Front panel key for computer selection.
Numerical display shows selected computer and keyboard/mouse activity.
Optional remote controller connects to rear.
Base-mounted reset and option switches.

Computer selection

Computers may be selected using the front panel key, keyboard hotkeys, a three button mouse or wheel mouse, RS232 data commands or the optional remote controller. The hotkeys are selectable and are designed to be quick-fire using a minimum number of key presses. The mouse may be used to select the next or previous computer by holding down the centre button whilst pressing the left or right button. Both keyboard hotkey and mouse switching may be independently disabled if required. When cycling through channels using the mouse or the hotkeys the user may configure the SmartView to select all ports or just the ports that have powered PCs attached. RS232 switching is useful for automated operation and the remote controller provides a convenient control method without locating the SmartView on the desk.

Operation mode

The keyboard, mouse and all the video heads are switched together so that the keyboard and mouse are controlling the computer whose video is currently displayed on the monitors.

Synchronised switching

SmartView MultiScreen DVI may be linked together via their options ports to provide synchronised switching of 8,12 or 16 video channels controlled from one master unit.

Other features

The SmartView MultiScreen DVI provides a wide range of useful features including:
User selectable password protection.
Autoscan of all or active ports with selectable dwell times.
Screen saver feature with selectable "kick in" time.
User selectable keyboard hotkey combinations.
Video may be disabled (channel zero selection).
Ability to cycle between computers using hotkeys plus TAB.

Keyboard ports

PS/2 or AT style keyboards supported. PS/2 keyboards plug in directly. AT keyboards require a 6-pin mini-DIN to 5-pin DIN adapter. Automatic mode emulation and num / caps / scroll updates ensures that the keyboard is always in the expected state. Modes 1,2 and 3 are supported for full compatibility. Keyboard data is kept in its native format to ensure support for additional web control, hot media and other extra keys.

Mouse ports

The controlling PS/2 style mouse plugs directly into the SmartView MultiScreen DVI. SmartView MultiScreen DVI supports 2 and 3 button mice and most wheel and scroll mice including the Microsoft IntelliMouse and IntelliMouse Explorer. PS/2 or RS232 mouse connections to computers may be made in any combination. RS232 mice require an additional cabling adapter (VSA1). Prompt and stream mode support ensures compatibility with desktop and laptop PCs. 3 button mice or wheel mice may optionally be used to switch the SmartView's channel. Continuous port emulation on non-selected ports ensures problem free computer bootup.

Video ports

Two or four single-link DVI ports operating up to 165MHz the full DVI Specification, VESA DDC2B signalling supported. AdderView extends DVI video cable runs by boosting the video signal.
